Despite the cleanliness, comfort of the room and the location, service at this hotel was terrible, and I have to say this is the worst hotel service I have ever experienced. Although I have booked the room with a private bathroom, upon checking in, I was given the room without one. The hotel man insists that I did not book the room with the bathroom even though I did so by paying a little more expensive fee. After a while, he unwillingly gave me the room with a bathroom.

Room and hotel recently renovated. Room very simple yet clean and comf. Bathroom, though shared, generally tidy and comf. Staff kind and helpful.
Quite OK for short stays. For longer stays you might want a place with some extra comforts

The staff was very friendly and accomodating.
The rooms were a bit noisy and the window could not be opened, thus making the room warm, despite the airco.

I stayed 6 nights in August. It was simple and clean, the staff was kind. I was told about the bedbugs situation in NY, but I haven't seen any while staying there. The only inconvinience I felt was that the toilet and shower was in the same room, so if someone is using the shower you cannot use that restroom (but still i could find another restroom in the other side of the corridor. Eg. In the fourth fl, there were about 20 guest rooms and 4 restrooms.
Bed was a bit not comfy with quirky sound.

Clean, handsome, affordable hotel with friendly, helpful staff. An easy walk to two different subway stations. Fabulous location, within walking distance of Blossom cafe, a superb restaurant, and of Whole Foods. I booked a room with a queen-sized bed and private bath. It was perfect. I will definitely stay there again. Very highly recommended.
I would not want to share a bathroom with strangers, so if the room with the private bath was not available, I probably wouldn't stay there.
